Complete feature guide

Editor reference

Draw the graph, add momentum and page annotations, edit each object in the inspector, and set the physical figure size before export.

Anatomy

Workspace and menus

The library lists browser projects and objects. The canvas holds the diagram. The inspector changes the current tool or selection. Drag either thin vertical divider to resize its neighboring panel; focus the divider and use the left or right arrow key for keyboard resizing.

Drawing and annotation tools

Select V

Click a vertex, propagator, object label, independent label, or free arrow to select it. Drag vertices and labels to reposition them. Dragging a free arrow moves both endpoints together; use the inspector to edit individual endpoints. Clicking empty space clears the selection. The Objects list provides another selection method. Arrow keys nudge a selected vertex by one unit; hold Shift for a larger step.

Add Vertex A

Choose a marker style and click the page. A vertex can show no mark, a small dot, or a larger open, filled, hatched, crosshatched, or dotted circle. Large circular markers expose an icon-radius control from 6 to 60 canvas units.

Connect Vertices C

Choose a line type and arrow behavior, then click two different vertices. The first click sets the start. Automatic arrows run from start to end for fermions. Bosons, scalars, and ghosts begin without an arrow. Use the Loop tool for a self-loop.

Add Loop L

Single vertex attaches a self-loop to one vertex. The editor points it toward the side with the most available space. Two vertices creates a matched pair of curved propagators, giving a circular loop. For fermions, the two arrows point in opposite directions.

Annotate → Label

Choose Label and click anywhere on the page to place an independent TeX label. The tool returns to Select after placement. Use independent labels for process names, equations, scale notes, or a legend. Select the label to edit its source, X/Y coordinates, or color.

Annotate → Arrow

Choose Arrow, then drag from the tail to the head. The tool returns to Select when the drag ends. Select the arrow to move it as one object, edit either endpoint, change its color, or delete it. Free arrows work well for explanatory callouts and axes.

Deleting a vertex also removes attached propagators.

Undo restores the full connected structure. Projects accept up to 150 vertices, 300 propagators, and 300 free annotations.

Propagator styles

Fermion
Quarks and leptons; arrow direction carries fermion flow.
Photon
Electromagnetic gauge boson.
Gluon
Strong-force gauge boson.
Scalar
Spin-0 field, often the Higgs or a model-dependent scalar.
Ghost
Auxiliary field used in gauge-theory calculations.

Line-style conventions vary by subfield and paper. Use labels and a legend if your audience might read a style differently.

ControlRange or choicesEffect
Particle styleFermion, photon, gluon, scalar, ghostChanges the line geometry while preserving its endpoints and label.
Arrow directionStart → end, end → start, noneSets fermion flow or removes the arrow.
Quark bundle1, 2, or 3Draws parallel fermion lines. Quark spacing appears for bundles of two or three.
Curvature−220 to 220Bends a normal connection to either side. Zero produces a straight baseline.
Loop size / angle30–180 / −180°–180°Changes the radius and direction of a single-vertex loop.
Label offset−120 to 120Moves a propagator label perpendicular to the line at its midpoint.
Label X / Y−150 to 150Adds exact horizontal and vertical adjustments after the offset.
Line colorColor pickerChanges the selected propagator in the editor and supported exports.
Momentum arrowOn/offAdds an arrow that follows the straight, curved, or looped propagator path.
Momentum labelTeX source, up to 200 charactersPlaces a momentum symbol at the center of the momentum-arrow segment.
Momentum label X / YWithin the pageMoves the momentum label independently of its arrow; the label can also be dragged.
Momentum direction / sideStart → end or end → start / left or rightSets the arrow direction and the side of the propagator independently of fermion flow.
Momentum start / end0–95% / 5–100%, at least 5% apartSets the portion of the propagator followed by the arrow. These controls appear under Fine placement.
Momentum colorColor pickerChanges the momentum arrow and its label.

Vertex controls

A selected vertex exposes its TeX label, X/Y position, label X/Y offsets, marker style, and marker radius. Vertices stay inside the 720 × 480 page with a 20-unit margin; labels can move across the page up to their visible edges. Snapping aligns vertex position edits to the active grid.

Independent annotations

ObjectInspector controlsCanvas behavior
Independent labelTeX source, X/Y position, colorDrag the label to reposition it anywhere within the 720 × 480 page.
Free arrowX1/Y1 tail, X2/Y2 head, colorDrag the arrow to move both endpoints while preserving its length and direction.

Label syntax

Vertex, propagator, momentum, and independent labels use the same TeX-like input. Drag object labels for visual placement or enter offsets for repeatable alignment. The label reference lists supported commands and examples.

Figure and view settings

SettingRangeUse
Figure width60–240 mmSets physical size and determines raster pixel dimensions with the selected ppi.
Line width0.3–2 ptSets the base stroke in vector, raster, PDF, and LaTeX output.
Text size5–18 ptSets label size with the bundled DejaVu Serif face in image and PDF exports.
Snap to gridOn/offAligns current vertices as soon as you enable it, then constrains future movement.
Show page gridOn/offShows alignment lines in the editor. Exported figures omit the grid.
Grid spacing10, 20, 40 unitsChooses fine, standard, or coarse snapping.
ThemeAutomatic, light, darkChanges the application chrome. Diagram export colors come from object and background choices.

View → Show Figure Style Panel keeps figure controls visible in the right sidebar. Edit → Figure Style opens the same main choices in a dialog.

Projects and history

My diagrams holds projects saved in this browser at this hostname. Click a project name to switch. Use the × button to delete one after confirmation. Click the diagram title or choose Edit → Rename Diagram to rename it.

The app autosaves after edits. Manual Save downloads an editable project file, which protects the work from browser-data clearing or a move to another hostname. Open validates and restores a project file smaller than 1 MB.

Undo and redo apply to edits within the active document. Opening a different project or replacing the document starts a new history. See Files & export for recovery and portability details.
